Women Write the Rockies Presents the Second Installment of The Waves: A Feminist Retrospective. A poetry and fiction reading at Wolverine Farm Letterpress and Publick House
Say the word feminist in the 21st century and it becomes a flashpoint. The controversy continues even today when it comes to discussing equal rights for women. Women Write the Rockies presents the second installment of The Waves: A Feminist Retrospective at Wolverine Farm Letterpress and Publick House at 316 Willow Street, Fort Collins on Saturday, February 20th from 7-9 PM. This will be the second reading and writing workshop by members of Women Write the Rockies at Wolverine Letterpress and Publick House.
The feminist movement came in waves from the first wave of the 19th Century, the second wave of the 70’s, to the third wave of current times. These writers will celebrate equal rights, reproductive rights, ecofeminism, and other aspects of the feminist, female, and feminine realm. Hear fiction and poetry by Annie Dawid, Eleanor Swanson, Theresa Crater, Marilyn Krysl, Elizabeth Hyde, and Kathryn Winograd. A reception and book signing will follow the reading.
Women Write the Rockies is also offering Writing the Sestina, a free poetry writing workshop by member Marilyn Krysl, editor of The Sestina in the 21st Century and other books, at Wolverine Letterpress on Saturday, February 20th from 2-4. The sestina is a complex form that achieves its often spectacular effects through intricate repetition. Write your own sestina, a thirty-nine-line form attributed to the 12th century troubadours of France.
Women Write the Rockies is a group of literary women writing in the shadow of the Rockies: a community of like-minded women sharing news, readings, publications, and reviews.
