KathleenWillardAs an Army brat, I am from everywhere. I grew up in every sector of the United States and Germany. As a result, I have an innate restlessness and have traveled the globe. Formal education: BA in English @ Windham College, MA in English @ Middlebury College, MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry @ Colorado State University & lifelong obsession with writing, publishing & reading poetry. Places I have traveled: India on a Fulbright, Turkey, Portugal, England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France, Azores, & Italy multiple times. I cannot sit still. Current Projects: I will be traveling with anthropologist Associate Professor Elizabeth Cullen Dunn of University of Indiana University to Poland and Romania to investigate CIA Black Ops torture sites as part of her cultural anthropology team in the role of poet-in-residence. I am working with Ross Chaney, Sundance Native Producing Fellow writing a screenplay in using my narrative poetry for a short film called Severe Storm Warning. Profession: Teacher in public schools & as adjunct @ Colorado State University, Front Range Community College & University of Northern Colorado for 26 years. Currently, full time writer and poet. Poetry Manuscripts Completed and Looking for a Publisher: The Next Noise is Our Hearts & This Incendiary Season. Awards: Fulbright to study in India, Arapahoe Community College Writer’s Studio Award/Pushcart Nominee, Colorado Creative Industries Career Development Grant to support residency at Vermont Studio Center, Colorado Art Share/Denver Botanic Gardens to letterpress a series of pastorals, scholarships to attend the Disquiet International Literary Program in Portugal, & the Breadloaf Writer’s Conference twice.
